An Introduction to Rehab Counseling
The Art of
Rehabilitation Counseling CRCs work with individuals with diverse abilities across the lifespan. The Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification (CRCC), the world's largest rehabilitation counseling organization dedicated to improving the lives of individuals with disabilities, sets the standard for competent delivery of quality rehabilitation counseling services through its nationally accredited and internationally recognized Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) certification program and serves all rehabilitation counseling professionals.
How Having the CRC Credential
Makes a Difference The designation of Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) is an indication of an advanced level of specialized education and training, an adherence to rigid standards of ethical practice, and an ongoing commitment to lifelong learning. Rehabilitation counselors who have earned the CRC designation possess a marketable and valued credential that distinguishes them from other counseling professionals. CRC certification also establishes a recognizable point of differentiation with employers and clients that promotes consumer confidence and protection in the workplace.

Disability History and Legislation
Connecting The Dots: although there are many ways to research and learn about disability history and legislation, the two websites below offer a good starting place for folks new to the discipline. The Disability History Museum shares historical artifacts (images and print materials) detailing how disability has been historically viewed.
The second website is a link to disability services at Colorado State University where they share an historical timeline of disability legislation as a part of their disability awareness campaign. They also offer a great list of websites, books, and films that focus on disability-related topics that can be accessed under the "Disability Awareness" tab in their navigation bar. |
